A North Versailles Twp. teen-ager who was reported missing on Wednesday was found dead two hours later inside a Monroeville apartment.

Allegheny County police allege that Joselyn Thomas, 18, was shot fatally by Albert Williams III, 19, of Wilkinsburg inside a residence at the Cambridge Square Apartments off of Mosside Boulevard.

Wiliams is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing Aug. 23 in Pittsburgh Municipal Court. Thomas’s death has been ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

According to a criminal complaint, Thomas was reported missing to North Versailles Twp. police just after 1 p.m. Wednesday by a concerned acquaintance. The acquaintance was not identified but told police that Thomas had last been seen the night before, when she left home in a white GMC SUV with a man identified as Williams.

The acquaintance became concerned when Thomas did not return home and did not answer her cell phone, the complaint alleges.

Township police requested assistance from county investigators.

Approximately two hours later, Monroeville police were dispatched to Cambridge Square Apartments when a caller reported a shooting. Police responded and found Thomas’s body inside a bedroom in one of the apartments.

A witness told police that Thomas and Williams had been arguing and that Williams shot Thomas three times, according to the criminal complaint.

Police allege that Williams then left the scene, driving away in the white SUV.

According to the complaint, Williams arrived at Allegheny County police headquarters at approximately 6:30 p.m. along with his attorney and agreed to speak to investigators.

The complaint states that Williams said he had an argument with Thomas, who threatened him with a pair of scissors before the shooting.

Williams is charged by Allegheny County police with criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and tampering with physical evidence.
