A weekly talk show about people in the Mon Valley area of Pittsburgh

A weekly public affairs show about McKeesport and the Mon Valley, produced in cooperation with WEDO (810) and WZUM (1550).

Two Rivers, 30 Minutes for 12-3-2021

Topic: Capturing the Mon Valley's homes and street scapes in oils

Guest: Artist Tyler Gedman of Duquesne, Pa.

How topic discussed: Tyler Gedman is an oil painter who recently graduated from Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport and Community College of Allegheny County. He has begun a series of paintings of streetscapes — many of them abandoned buildings — around Duquesne, McKeesport and Homestead. About 70 of those paintings are on exhibit at CCAC South Campus now through January 2022. What images is he trying to capture? Why does the subject of abandoned buildings appeal to him? What emotions do his paintings provoke in the people whose neighborhoods he is painting? Who were his artistic influences? Where does he see his art career going from here?
