Guest: Concert pianist Byron Janis

How topic discussed: Byron Janis, who turned 95 in March 2023, was one of the first American musicians who was invited to play in the former Soviet Union during the Cold War. Born in McKeesport and raised in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood, he was a child prodigy and one of only three students that Vladimir Horowitz acknowledged teaching. Since 1973, Janis has also suffered from arthritis. He talks about his early childhood, his discovery of music, his love of teaching, and about his advocacy for people with arthritis.
