The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have awarded McKeesport $125,000 to work with UPMC and a broad coalition of community groups to develop a city-wide strategy to address chronic diseases, food security and access to health care. What are the social determinants of healt? Why was the city chosen for this opportunity? How will the planning grant be used? Why are food, shelter and employment related to health care outcomes?
