Topic: A life in local filmmaking

Guest: Independent filmmaker Stephen Seliy

How Topic Discussed: Stephen Seliy grew up in a small Westmoreland County mining community, went to the University of Pittsburgh, and has been a social worker, a steel worker, and a "mad man," producing advertisements for local and national companies. He's currently working on a project to document internationally known photographer and McKeesport native Duane Michals, who is developing a permanent legacy in his hometown. What is so attractive about filmmaking? How does Seliy select a story to tell? How did he connect with Duane Michals? What is Michals' fascination with McKeesport, and why does Seliy share his enthusiasm?
