A South Carolina company that has heavily marketed its “rent-to-own” homes in McKeesport, Glassport, Braddock and other parts of the Mon Valley is being sued by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, claims that Vision Property Management of Columbia, S.C, and more than 50 affiliated companies used deceptive business practices to market homes that had serious problems that were concealed or never disclosed, including missing plumbing, insect infestations, defective wiring and leaky roofs.

State Attorney General Josh Shapiro brought the lawsuit on behalf of 650 families.

As of Friday, according to the company’s website, Vision Property had 14 houses available in Allegheny County, including one on Duquesne Avenue in McKeesport and others on Maryland Avenue in Glassport and Zimmer Lane in Greenock, Elizabeth Twp.

Residents of North Versailles Twp. asked commissioners to do something about dangerous conditions on state-maintained roads and bridges.

During the public comment portion of the commissioners’ Sept. 19 meeting, Julie Davis, who uses a walker, said she has difficulty getting to the nearest bus stop, located at the intersection of Overhill Road and East Pittsburgh McKeesport Boulevard, where she resides.

The intersection is on a state-maintained road that Davis said is “very dangerous,” due to missing sections of sidewalk that were not replaced after work was completed to repair water lines.

“Somebody may be seriously injured or killed,” unless a traffic light or stop sign is placed at the intersection, she told commissioners. “There is no traffic light there, no sidewalk, no curb, I’m using a walker, I fell a couple of times,” Davis said.

NVT Commissioners: Police Officers Likely Saved Shooting Victim's Life

July 24, 2019 |

By Richard Finch Jr. | Posted in: North Versailles Twp. News

North Versailles Twp. Commissioner Russell Saula acknowledged township police officers for going “above and beyond” to help save the life of a shooting victim earlier this month.

The officers responded to a shooting inside the North Versailles Walmart the evening of July 5. A 25-year old female was shot several times and taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

“I don’t know if everybody understands the severity of that woman’s” injury, Saula said at Thursday’s meeting. “Two of our cops, Steve Shawley and Travis Pomaibo, probably, if they didn’t save her life, they helped save her life.”

Police Chief James Matrazzo said the victim would have “bled out” from a bullet wound to her hand that traveled through the victim’s femur and pierced her femoral artery, according to information from the trauma surgeon who operated on the victim.
