A city man who appeared to have been stabbed multiple times was found dead Sunday evening inside his apartment at the former YMCA of McKeesport, Downtown.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Gordon Danielson Jr., 57.
Police were called to McKeesport Downtown Housing, 523 Sinclair St., just after 6 p.m. Sunday and discovered Danielson dead inside his apartment.
The Allegheny County police homicide unit is investigating. No further details were released.

Two teen-agers were reportedly in critical condition after a shooting near Yester Square on Tuesday night.
Allegheny County police said the male victims, both 15, were taken to an area hospital. Their names were not released.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. in the 900 block of Craig Street. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that a bronze Chevrolet Malibu with Wisconsin license plates fled the scene and that the vehicle was located in Whitaker on Wednesday afternoon.

Allegheny County police have released few details in connection with the shooting death of a woman whose body was found near Myer Park on Sunday morning.
On Thursday, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the victim was Amber Rose Dolby, 38, also known as Amber Bailey.
In a prepared statement, county homicide detectives said McKeesport police and paramedics were dispatched to the corner of Rogena Street and Riverview Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. Sunday when a caller to 9-1-1 reported that a woman was lying in the intersection.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of an apparent gunshot wound to the head, county police said.

An Elizabeth Twp. man was held overnight following a crash on Fifth Avenue in the city’s East End.
McKeesport police said charges are pending completion of their investigation.
Police said a gray Ford Fusion left the road in the 1700 block of East Fifth Avenue just after 8 p.m. April 20, narrowly missing a car in the oncoming lane, and crashed into the side of the AI Solutions building.

Two teen-aged girls have been charged with arson in connection with several fires in the Grandview area of the city that investigators believe were deliberately set.
The girls, both 14, from McKeesport and White Oak, were arrested following a fire at an abandoned house on Easler Street on April 16, and police believe the youths are also responsible for fires at three other vacant houses in the neighborhood.
The teens are charged with five counts each of arson and causing or risking a catastrophe. Both were arrested April 17 and taken to Shuman Juvenile Detention Center for processing, police said.

A North Huntingdon Twp. man died Thursday afternoon following a head-on collision near White Oak Park.
Donald Pivirotto, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Allegheny County police Lt. Venerando Costa said a Nissan Sentra driven by Pivirotto was on Route 48 near McClintock Road, heading toward Lincoln Way, when it was struck head-on by a box truck traveling in the other direction.

Local police departments are modifying their procedures in response to concerns over the spread of novel coronavirus.
Officers will respond immediately to emergency calls to 9-1-1, police said, but tours and routine visits are cancelled indefinitely.
Police in Duquesne, McKeesport, North Versailles Twp. and White Oak are asking residents not to come to their stations in person for routine requests.
Information requests, general complaints and reports about suspicious behaviors should be telephoned to non-emergency numbers, and will be handled by phone. If an officer needs additional information in person, they will make arrangements to meet the other party, police said.

Sheriff's deputies have apprehended a second suspect wanted in connection with a Oct. 27 shooting in North Versailles Twp.
That incident left one man dead and caused a three-car accident on Route 30 that injured several people.
Erik Desean Addison, 24, of Homestead was arrested Wednesday morning in Mount Oliver, said Tony Griffith, spokesman for Allegheny County Sheriff William Mullen.
Addison was wanted by Allegheny County police on charges of homicide, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm, recklessly endangering other persons and carrying a firearm without a license.

A 29-year-old man is critical condition following a shooting Tuesday morning on Evans Avenue in the city.
Allegheny County police Lt. Venerando Costa said in a prepared statement that the motive for the shooting is unknown.
McKeesport police were dispatched just after 2 a.m. to the 600 block of Evans for a report of “shots fired.”
At almost the same time, police were notified that a gunshot victim had just walked into the emergency room at UPMC McKeesport hospital.

City officials are seeking a federal grant to bring gunshot detection technology to McKeesport in an effort to respond more quickly to incidents.
At Wednesday’s meeting, city council authorized Mayor Michael Cherepko’s administration to apply for a grant through the U.S. Justice Department’s Community Policing Development program to acquire “ShotSpotter” technology.
ShotSpotter, based in Newark, Calif., uses an network of electronic sensors to detect gunfire, pinpoint its exact location, and then alert police. The company says that its system depends on artificial intelligence to analyze the sounds of loud noises and that it ignores things like thunder, fireworks and trucks backfiring.
