Carnegie Library of McKeesport, 1507 Library Ave., will again serve as one of the sites for the 14th annual World Wide Knit in Public Day, a spokeswoman said.

Knitters, stitchers and crocheters of any skill level are invited to join with other crafters on the library lawn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (June 9). A picnic lunch will be served. The event is free and open to everyone. For more information, call (412) 672-0625 or visit mckeesportlibrary.org.

The library will mark National Gardening Week with a visit by Carol Korinko of the Garden Club of McKeesport at 4 p.m. Wednesday (June 6). Participants will learn to plant flowers, herbs and vegetables.

The library's Cookbook Club will explore the theme "A Night Out" at 6 p.m. June 11. Advance registration is requested. The club meets monthly to try foods based on a new theme every month and new members and visitors are welcome.

The daytime movies this month are "Peter Rabbit" at 10 a.m. June 12 and "Monkey Kingdom" at 10 a.m. June 26. The movies are free and open to all ages and registration is not required, but visitors should bring a cushion to sit on.

The library's Summer Reading Program will kick off the season at 1 p.m. Saturday (June 9) with an ice cream social. All children who register for the program can enjoy an ice cream sandwich and other refreshments, while their parents or guardians get information about programs for kids and teens at the library.

The Reading Social Club this month will discuss the books of author Jojo Moyes. The club will meet at 12:30 p.m. June 20 at Butler's Rock Run Inn in Elizabeth Twp. The event is free and open to the public, but to borrow a book by Moyes, call the library at (412) 672-0625.

Local author Jennifer Sopko will discuss her new book, "Idlewild: History and Memories of Pennsylvania's Oldest Amusement Park" at 6 p.m. June 22. The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is suggested.

Local author Robert Herring will discuss his book, "Scars of a Magician" at 6 p.m. June 29. The young adult novel is about a teen-age magician who lives in a hidden village, and his coming-of-age struggles. Advance registration is suggested but the event is free.
