Tube City Community Media Inc. is seeking freelance writers to help cover city council, news and feature stories in McKeesport, Duquesne, White Oak and the neighboring communities. High school and college students seeking work experience are encouraged to apply; we are willing to work with students who need credit toward class assignments. Rain Dampens Opening Night at 59th International Village

The first night of McKeesport's 59th International Village was a rain-out.
Severe weather forced the cancellation of most of the main stage entertainment, although the Pittsburgh Firefighters Memorial Pipe Band and "American Idol" contestant Aubrey Burchell did perform during an opening ceremony.
Fireworks scheduled for tonight will be presented on Wednesday, instead.
All of the booths stayed open, however, and for people who braved the weather, there was consolation --- no lines!
Our cameras captured the opening ceremony, and we also had a little bit of fun with Mikey Dee, entertainment chairman for International Village.
We'll be back on Wednesday night from 5 to 9 p.m.
