The eighth-annual "Tour de Mon" bike ride will be held Sept. 15 on the Great Allegheny Passage biking-hiking trail between Elizabeth Twp. and Hazelwood.

The event -- billed as a "family fun ride" --- is sponsored by the Mon Yough Area Chamber of Commerce and presented by Levin Furniture, with support from the Steel Valley Trail Council and the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area.

Maury Burgwin, executive director of the chamber, said the bike ride begins and ends at the historic Pump House located at the Waterfront in Munhall.

Riders can choose to travel eight miles to the Hot Metal Bridge and back, 10 miles to Duquesne and return, 15 miles to McKeesport and return, or 20 miles to Boston and return.

Registration will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at the pump house, 800 E. Waterfront Drive, where the Tim Vitullo Band will perform for participants following the day's events.

The cost is $25 for adults, $15 under 18, and $60 for a family. T-shirts are guaranteed to people who registered before Sept. 3.

For more information or advance registration, call Burgwin at (412) 678-2450, or visit www.monyoughchamber.com.
