Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has released trout stocking schedules for the 2015 season, state Rep. Marc Gergely said.
The schedules can be obtained from his website, www.pahouse.com/gergely.
"It's always exciting to know our popular fishing areas will be stocked and ready for the official first day of trout season on April 18," Gergely said. "Stocking a local stream or river is a great experience for anglers of all ages, and I encourage any interested individuals to participate in a trout stocking event in our area."
On March 2, Pine and Deer creeks will be the first locations in Allegheny County to receive trout from Benner Spring and Pleasant Gap hatcheries.
The PFBC annually stocks about 3.2 million adult trout in over 700 streams and 120 lakes open to public angling, a spokesman said.
A variety of trout are stocked, including 2 million rainbow trout, 641,000 brown trout, and 525,000 brook trout, with the average length being around 11 inches. About 53 percent of the trout are stocked before opening day, with 43 percent being stocked between opening day and the end of May, and the remaining 4 percent from October through February of the following year.
