North Versailles Twp. commissioners have unanimously approved a new stormwater management ordinance.
Township solicitor Greg Evashavik said the ordinance is primarily intended to regulate new development and new construction and is mandated by the Pennsylvania Storm Water Management Act.
The law requires each county to prepare and adopt a watershed stormwater management plan for each watershed located in the county, as designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
“There was a model ordinance prepared and recommended by the county,” Evashavik said. “I made some minor changes to the rule for the township.”
Also at their October meeting, North Versailles commissioners unanimously voted to put a stop sign on Luehm Avenue at Hill Street.
The stop sign ordinance is the result of an engineering and traffic study conducted by the township's engineers that concluded there is inadequate sight distance for motorists on Hill Street from northbound Luehm Avenue, Evashavik said.
