NV Twp. Commissioners OK Grant Application for Fairhaven Park

North Versailles Twp. will seek $140,234 from the Allegheny County Community Infrastructure and Tourism Fund for renovations at Fairhaven Park.

At their January meeting, commissioners authorized Parks and Recreation Director Lisa Green to apply for a grant from the CITF fund.

In other business:

The cost to rent the hall at the township Community Center has gone up, from $175 to $250 for residents and from $300 to $400 for non-residents, effective immediately. Commissioners voted to approve the change.

Commissioners approved the order of a new 2019 Ford F550 truck with snow plow and salt spreader at a cost of $81,108, from Suppes Ford of Johnstown, Pa., and A&H Equipment of Bridgeville. Officials said the truck is being leased for three years through the state's CoStars program.

Also approved was a property tax exoneration for Home Depot for the years 2015-2018 in the amount of $40,313.80.

Commissioners voted to approve payments in the amount of $2,880.29 to West Wilmerding VFC and $2,413.03 for Crestas VFC from the 2018 Fire Tax Money, according to Commissioner Russell Saula.

The township will donate $500 to the East Allegheny Art Scholarship Fund as a payment toward the upcoming Art and Apple Juice Painting Classes.

Also approved was the purchase of police equipment in the amount of $2,736 and the hiring of a disc jockey for the township Valentine's Day dance at the cost of $275. The dance will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 15.

Police and Fire Report:

During December, North Versailles Twp. police department received 837 calls, made 28 arrests and housed 12 inmates from East McKeesport and four from Turtle Creek. Firefighters answered 36 calls during December, according to Commissioner Russell Saula.
