White Oak Mayor Ina Jean Marton praised the borough's emergency responders for their handling of a Jan. 2 incident.
At council's March meeting, Marton thanked White Oak Police Sgt. Dan Opferman and Officer Greg Smith, the McKeesport Police Department, Allegheny County police SWAT and their negotiator, and White Oak EMS's WOTAC team for working together to negotiate with an armed, suicidal man barricaded in a home in the borough.
“Together, they were able to bring a very dangerous situation to a peaceful conclusion by conducting themselves as competent and well trained professionals,” Marton said. “Due to their actions, the actor suffered no additional injuries, and was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.”
Marton also gave the police report for the month of February, which included 11 adult arrests, and a total of 629 incidents. Arrests included one burglary, three drug offences, one DUI, one endangering the welfare of children, two public drunkenness charges and three thefts.
