A North Versailles Twp. man died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Routes 30 and 48.

Kevin Kolesar, 60, died before 7 a.m. in the emergency room of Forbes Regional Hospital of blunt-force traumatic injuries, said a spokesperson for the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. His death has been ruled an accident.

Allegheny County police Lt. Kenneth Ruckel said Kolesar was struck while walking on Aldi Drive near Route 48, in front of the Home Depot store, just after 6 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the car, a 57-year-old woman whose name was not released, stayed at the scene, Ruckel said.

Friends said Kolesar, who had been employed at the former King's Family Restaurant in North Versailles for more than 20 years, was a resident of a nearby independent living facility and was walking to work at Denny's when the accident occurred.

A waitress at Denny's who asked that her name not be used said it had been a difficult day for everyone there. Kolesar washed dishes at the restaurant, she said. "He was a great worker and he will be missed," she said.

County police detectives are investigating, Ruckel said. Anyone who may have seen the accident is asked to call Allegheny County police at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
