NV Twp. May Require Dye Test Before Property Sales

North Versailles Twp. commissioners will consider an ordinance requiring a sewer dye test to be performed prior to the sale and transfer of any property.
At September's meeting, the commissioners authorized Township Manager Patricia Logo to advertise the ordinance. Commissioners are expected to vote on the proposal at their October meeting.
In other business, commissioners approved a subdivision and consolidation request for the former Nigro's Restaurant at Fifth Avenue and Washington Road.
Township Engineer Dave Gilliland reported that North Versailles' pollution reduction plan has been filed with the state Department of Environmental Protection. The plan is necessary for the township to obtain its Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, or MS4, permit.
The township's current permit expires in March 2020.
Township commissioners voted to authorize purchase of a 2019 Dodge Charger from Tri Star Motors through the state's CoStars program in the amount of $25,500.
Police and Fire Report:
During August 2019, North Versailles Twp. police department received 822 calls, made 35 arrests and housed 11 inmates from Turtle Creek and seven inmates from East McKeesport.
Inmates from East Pittsburgh are no longer be housed in North Versailles Twp., but are instead being housed at the state police barracks in Moon Twp., according to Commissioner Russell Saula.
Commissioners voted to approve payments in the amount of $4,513.50 to West Wilmerding VFC from the 2018 Fire Tax Money and $3,668.96 for Crestas VFC from the 2019 Fire Tax Money, Saula said.
Saula announced the police department wil participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at the station.
