High school and college students seeking work experience are encouraged to apply; we are willing to work with students who need credit toward class assignments. The West Newton Center for Active Adults has posted several upcoming events, including two concerts and a craft event.
For more information on any program, call (724) 872-4976. The center is located at 103 E. Main St.
A spokesperson said the center will host "Lunch and a Show" on Dec. 20 featuring classic country music by "Keepin' It Country." A donation of $2 is requested for lunch, and tickets to the performance cost $5 in advance. The lunch will include chicken creole, green beans, rice pilaf and peaches.
"Music Monday" on Dec. 30 will feature a luncheon and live music by Mark Davis. Call for reservations no later than Dec. 23.
Sharif is at the center from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays for free tai chi lessons.
On Jan. 6, there will be a winter ceramics craft session. Attendees will paint a 4-inch snowman head. The first 15 people who sign up receive free admission, while remaining attendees will pay $5, the spokesperson said.
