High school and college students seeking work experience are encouraged to apply; we are willing to work with students who need credit toward class assignments. Carnegie Library of McKeesport’s “Reading Social” book club will meet at 12 noon Wednesday to discuss the book “Cold Comfort Farm” by Stella Gibbons.

A spokeswoman said the group will meet at Luciano’s Restaurant, 1212 Long Run Road, White Oak. Registration is not necessary and the meeting is open to the public.

Other upcoming events include:

Christmas Lunch and a Movie, 11 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 17) — The movie “Downton Abbey” will be screened in the children’s room of the main library, 1507 Library Ave. Tea and sandwiches will be served. The event is intended for adults.

Soap Making with Miss Joyce, 3 p.m. Dec. 26 — Learn to make soap using different molds and colors. The group will meet at the White Oak Branch, 169 Victoria Drive, at Heritage Hills Park. All ages are welcome, but registration in advance is required; call (412) 672-0625.

Kids Cook, 3:15 p.m. Dec. 30 — Group meets in the children’s room at the main library. Please register in advance by calling (412) 672-0625.
