Free COVID-19 Tests Available Countywide

Five sites in the Mon Valley have begun offering free tests for COVID-19, including clinics in McKeesport, Braddock and Homestead.

Allegheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs said the tests are being offered at no charge, and patients do not need a doctor’s referral. Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should get tested.

Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat and loss of taste or smell. Other less common symptoms include nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

Other health clinics offering free COVID-19 testing are located in Homewood, East Liberty, Pittsburgh’s Hill District, Pittsburgh’s North Side, Northview Heights, Pittsburgh’s South Side, Squirrel Hill, McKees Rocks, Pittsburgh’s West End and Wilkinsburg.

Seven deaths in McKeesport, 151 countywide

Since March 14, there have been 1,828 confirmed or presumed cases of COVID-19 in Allegheny County, officials said Wednesday, including 324 people hospitalized and 151 deaths.

Seven of those deaths have been McKeesport residents, county officials said. No deaths have been reported in residents under age 40, and 81 percent of the deaths have been residents age 70 and over.

Across McKeesport, 39 cases have been confirmed or presumed, county officials said.

There are 33 cases reported in West Mifflin.

Duquesne has nine reported cases, North Versailles Twp. has 15 reported cases, White Oak has five and Liberty Borough has four. No cases have been reported in Port Vue or Lincoln Borough, according to the Allegheny County Health Department.

Nearly 30,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Allegheny County, the health department said.
