North Versailles Twp. commissioners have approved the promotions of two part-time police officers.
At the September meeting, commissioners approved moving Michael Sharp and Lucas Pici to full-time status, effective Oct. 4.
In other business, commissioners authorized township solicitor Greg Evashavik to draft an extension to the current trash-hauling contract with Big’s Sanitation to continue garbage pickup in North Versailles for another year without a price increase.
In response to complaints, Big’s has agreed to discontinue its practice of using full-size trucks in alleys, officials said.
Commissioners also issued payments to West Wilmerding volunteer fire department for $8,745.85 and Crestas volunteer fire department in the amount of $1,422.47 from the 2020 fire tax money.
There will be a drug take-back day at the township police station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24.
Clean-up days will be scheduled during weekends in October and dumpsters will be located at Crestas Park, Fairhaven Park and the municipal building, commissioners said.
