Health screenings and technology programs for kids are part of November’s offerings at the Carnegie Library of McKeesport, said Vincent D’Alesio, library director.

“Thank you to everyone who attended the outstanding events during the busy month of October,” D’Alesio said. “You can see pictures of all the fun we had on our Facebook page.”

The library will be participating in the city’s Salute to Santa Parade on Nov. 20 with a “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” themed float, he said. Nelson’s Transmission Shop in Christy Park has been helping with the preparation of the float, D’Alesio said.

Other upcoming programs include:

Free stroke screening, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6 — AHN Jefferson Hospital will set up a free stroke screening in the children’s room for anyone interested.

Technology program, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Nov. 13 — A popular tech program for kids and teens returns. Kids use a laptop and camera to create short stop-motion movies.

Teen program, 2 p.m. Nov. 26 — There will be a Super Smash Brothers Nintendo Wii tournament in the children’s room open to students in grades 5 or up. Participants must register in advance by calling (412) 672-0625 or visiting the library.

The main library is located at 1507 Library Ave., with branches at Duquesne Education Center and Heritage Hills Park in White Oak.
