More Than 30 Arrested After 14-Month Drug Investigation

A 14-month investigation into drug trafficking in the Mon-Yough area resulted in the arrest today of 31 suspects and arrest warrants for another 16.

Detectives from the Allegheny County police narcotics unit made the arrests during a sweep of Glassport with the assistance of officers from Clairton, Glassport, McKeesport, Elizabeth Borough, Liberty, Lincoln and Port Vue.

More than 50 police officers participated.

The investigation included 115 undercover drug buys, police said. The vast majority of them --- 99 --- involved heroin, police said, while another 11 included marijuana. The others included suboxone, hydrocodone and oxycodone, as well as one cocaine buy, a spokesman said.

Police also confiscated two shotguns --- including one reported stolen in Tennessee --- a handgun and suspected heroin, a spokesman said.

The following suspects were named by Allegheny County police and are currently in custody, according to police and court records:

  • Justin Allen, 25, of Pittsburgh's North Side; charges not available.
  • Angela Bayura, 38, of Glassport; charged with five counts each of drug possession, possession with intent to deliver and drug delivery, and related offenses.
  • Joanne Carney, 43, of McKeesport; charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver.
  • Heather Churchfield, 30, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery of drugs, endangering welfare of children and related offenses.
  • Charles Cunning, 36, of Union Twp.; charges unavailable.
  • Damond Davis, 28, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery of drugs and related offenses.
  • David Dolton, 55, of Glassport; charges unavailable.
  • Alex D. Erb, 26, no address given; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Troy Frison, 39, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Houston Goins, 59, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Anna Harrigan, 24, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Daniel J. Harris, 22, of McKees Rocks; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Gregory M. Hayes, 33, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Ronald Hill, 33, of Elizabeth; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and conspiracy to manufacture or possess drugs, and a related charge.
  • Jenna Martin, 19, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Keith Martin, 24, of McKeesport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.
  • Angela Mayernik, 23, of Glassport; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery and related charge.

  • Charlotte Wilson, 51, of Turtle Creek; possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery, a related charge and endangering welfare of children.
  • Jean Vannatta, 60, of Glassport, possession, possession with intent to deliver, delivery, criminal conspiracy and related charge.

Police have arrest warrants for another 16 suspects.

In addition to county and municipal police, the state Attorney General's Office, the Allegheny County Housing Authority police and agents from the FBI participated in today's raid, a spokesman said.
