The West Newton Library will hold its fifth annual basket auction fundraiser from 12 noon to 4 p.m. March 13 at the Turkeytown Volunteer Fire Dept. Hall, 90 Supervisors Drive, South Huntingdon Twp., a spokesperson said.
Doors open at 11 a.m. Tickets are $15 and include a light lunch and 25 general gift basket tickets. Tickets may be purchased at the library, 124 N. Water St.; at Gary’s Chuck Wagon Restaurant, South Second Street; or online at ticketleap.com.
There will be games of chance, a Presidents Gift Basket Tier, 50/50 drawing, and additional activities. The fundraiser benefits the fully volunteer-run library.
In related news, the library has recently received a large donation of current magazines. A spokesperson said one of the library’s patrons purchases at least 10 current magazines every week and donates them to the library.
The magazines are free and available in the Book Sale room.
The book sale continues and visitors are invited to “fill a bag” for $5.
Library cards are free with photo identification, the spokesperson said, and has a large selection of paperback books, non-fiction items, and fiction for young adults and children. There are also four computers available for public use.
Hours are 12 noon to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, 12 noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call (724) 633-0798.
