A contractor on Wednesday will begin the process of clearing away a landslide that has closed Lincoln Way in White Oak since last week.
“We expect that work will continue into next week,” said Steve Cowan, district spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.
PennDOT will meet back at the site this Friday to review the progress and evaluate the condition of the road, he said.
A portion of the road between Stewartsville Hollow Road and Coulterville Road was closed late Wednesday night following heavy rains that moved through the area, causing localized flooding, including the temporary closure of Route 48 between Ripple Road and Cool Springs Road.
The exact cause of the slide isn’t yet known, but the weather may have been a factor.
“The hillside above the road is moving,” Cowan said. “There is no damage to the road.”
Traffic is being detoured via Stewartsville Hollow Road, Colonial Manor Road and Route 30.
