NV Twp. Man Charged in Wilmerding Homicide

A North Versailles Twp. man is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond in connection with a homicide Thursday in Wilmerding.

Edwin R. Green, 47, of Verona was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour after the incident, the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said.

Jason E. Grubb, 47, is charged by Allegheny County police with criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and recklessly endangering another person. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 8 before Allegheny County Judge Kim Berkeley Clark.

County police Inspector Michael Peairs said Pitcairn police were dispatched to the 700 block of Middle Avenue just after 10 a.m. after 9-1-1 received a report of a shooting.

First responders found a 47-year-old male, later identified as Green, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Peairs said.

County detectives identified Grubb as a suspect in the shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest, Peairs said. Grubb was located at a family member’s residence in Pittsburgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
