Nearly 400 UPMC Health System physicians have been recognized as 2022’s “Top Doctors” across more than 60 different specialties.

The annually published Pittsburgh Magazine “Top Doctors” list is a selection of the region’s top physicians. Three of this year’s selections are from McKeesport.

The Top Doctors list is compiled by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a healthcare research and information company founded in 1991, and is merit-based.

“UPMC believes the best medical care begins with having the very best clinical professionals,” said Joon S. Lee, MD, senior vice president of UPMC, and president of UPMC Physician Services. “This recognition of our physicians across various specialties reflects our ongoing commitment to provide exceptional care that meets the diverse needs in the communities we serve.”

Three doctors from McKeesport were named to the list for 2022:

Dr. Essam Demian practices at UPMC McKeesport Latterman Family Health Center and is affiliated with UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital and UPMC McKeesport. A 1981 graduate of the University of Ain-Shams School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, he pursued further training in the United Kingdom.

Demian completed his residency in family medicine at UPMC McKeesport where he served as chief resident before joining the faculty of the Pitt School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program. He was awarded the title of Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2009.

Demian’s interests in medicine are women’s health and child development issues. He is married and has two children.

Dr. Andrew Lobl practices at Primary Care Health Services on Lysle Boulevard. A 1995 graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in 1995, Lobl specializes in family medicine.

Dr. Cara McAnaney is a family medicine physician and an HIV specialist. She is certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine and is an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is a core faculty member at the UPMC McKeesport Family Medicine Residency and sees patients at UPMC Latterman Family Health Center.

McAnaney serves as the HIV Primary Care track director for UPMC McKeesport, UPMC Shadyside and UPMC St. Margaret residencies. She practices at the Pittsburgh AIDS Center for Treatment.

McAnaney received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Lawrence Family Medicine Residency in Lawrence, Mass., followed by her fellowship at UCSF Fresno.
