A Munhall man is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bail in connection with a shooting Saturday morning on Hamilton Street in McKeesport.

County police allege the shooting happened after the suspect attempted to rob someone from whom he had arranged to buy marijuana.

Police said the victim is in critical condition after being flown to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter.

Davon Blue, 20, is charged by Allegheny County police with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor, recklessly endangering another person, obstructing administration of law and giving false information to law enforcement.

According to a criminal complaint, county police said the victim, a friend and the friend’s 2-year-old child were parked near the intersection of Stewart and Hamilton streets just before 11 a.m.

Police said the victim and the friend were meeting someone to complete a drug transaction.

The person whom they were to meet had contacted the victim’s friend via Facebook, using a fake name, the complaint states.

When the person arrived, police said, he told the victim and his friend that he didn’t have a wi-fi connection to complete the purchase, and said he would have to return to his nearby home.

According to the complaint, a few minutes later, police allege the man returned, pointed a handgun into the vehicle and attempted to grab the marijuana.

Police said the man fired the handgun, striking the victim in the head, then fled the scene.

McKeesport police used a K-9 tracking dog to follow the suspect’s trail to a home in the 1400 block of Hamilton, according to the complaint. Four men and one women were located at the home, county police said.

The victim’s friend identified the person who shot the victim as Blue, police said.

Detectives recovered five pill vials containing suspected marijuana from the vehicle and from the scene of the shooting, as well as one spent 9-mm pistol round, police said.

Blue faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 15 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi.
