The East Allegheny School Board has voted not to renew the contract of district Superintendent Alan Johnson.
At this month’s meeting, the board voted 5-4 not to rescind a previous motion to let the contract expire.
Voting against contract renewal were School Directors Merle Pusey, Robert Trout, Cortney Verner, George Yusk and Dan Ziober.
Johnson has been superintendent since 2020. He previously served as superintendent in the neighboring Woodland Hills School District prior to retiring from that role.
School directors declined to discuss the reasons for their decision publicly. Pusey said “it’s just better for East Allegheny, that’s all,” but did not elaborate.
Neither Johnson nor any of the other school directors responded to a request seeking comment.
