MLT Seeks Actors for Upcoming Play

Auditions will be held this week at McKeesport Little Theater for the group’s upcoming presentation of “Dearly Departed” by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones.

Acting auditions will be open on Friday and Saturday, and musical auditions will be open Sunday. To sign-up, visit the website. MLT is located at 1614 Coursin St.

The show, set in a small-town in the Southern United States, debuted off-Broadway in 1991 and has become a community theater favorite since then. The story revolves around the Turpin siblings, who have difficulty pulling themselves together and preparing a funeral for their deceased father.

Actors do not need to prepare in advance, an MLT spokeswoman said, because scripts will be provided for the auditions.

Performance dates are May 5, 6 and 7 and 12, 13 and 14.

The characters include the deceased’s widow, Raynelle Turpin; elder son Ray-Bud Turpin; Lucille Turpin, Ray-Bud’s wife; Junior Turpin, the youngest son; and Suzanne, Junior’s wife.

Multiple parts are available for men and women ranging in age from their 20s to 80s.

MLT also is looking for a stage manager for its upcoming production of “Dearly Departed,” to be directed by Patrick Daniel and produced by Philip Boatright. Resumes may be sent to mckeesportlittletheater1614@gmail.com.
