The Altrusa Club of McKeesport will hold a mystery dinner fundraiser at The Rose Bar & Grille, 2811 Lincoln Way, in White Oak on May 4, a spokeswoman said.
The event, titled “Murder on the High Seas,” will raise money to support outreach from Altrusa, including donations to local charities such as the Salvation Army, The Intersection and animal-rescue organizations.
Tickets are $50. Reservations are limited to 100 people and sales will continue through this weekend, said Diane Kolesar, club treasurer and a member for more than 20 years.
Founded more than 100 years ago in Nashville, Tenn., Altrusa International is a network of business and professional women’s clubs that support literacy, community service and economic development. The McKeesport chapter was formed in 1941, Kolesar said.
The club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at The Rose Bar & Grille, Kolesar said. Helene Moux is the current chapter president.
The McKeesport branch, which once numbered as many as 100 people, is currently recruiting additional members to support activities such as its annual entry in the McKeesport Festival of Trees, Kolesar said.
“At the international level and the district level, Altrusa supports service projects that lead to a better community,” she said.
The May 4 event will include raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing and other activities. To reserve a ticket, call (412) 327-1413 and leave a message.
