Following a successful used book sale, the West Newton Public Library is now accepting donations of adult hardcover and paperback books in good, saleable condition for its next sale, a spokesperson said.
The library also will accept gently used children’s books, DVDs and audio tapes. The library is located at 124 N. Water St. West Newton. Hours are 12 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, 12 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
The spokesperson said each donation is checked to see if they are needed on the library shelves; if not, they are placed either in the book sale room that is open daily at the library, or held for the next sale.

In other news, Community Revitalization of West Newton is holding a “half the take” event at Vine Street Park on July 20. Contestants can purchase a golf ball for $5. On the day of the event, the golf balls will be loaded into a bucket truck and dropped onto a bullseye.
The ball closest to the center will win half of the proceeds. The other half of the proceeds will benefit CROWN. For more information or to purchase a ball, contact CROWN15089@yahoo.com.
The golf ball event is being held in conjunction with a “Chalk the Park” chalk-drawing event that begins at 7 p.m.
