Tube City Almanac reader Wesley Sadler captured this video Wednesday morning (March 4) of the Youghiogheny River near the 15th Avenue Bridge.

Isolated flooding has been reported in parts of Western Pennsylvania after rain, and much warmer temperatures, caused snow and ice to melt rapidly.

The National Weather Service in Moon Twp. reports that 1.15 inches of rain was measured at Braddock between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday. About 0.81 inches of rain was measured at Elizabeth, and 1.23 inches of rain at Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin.

That came on top of 4 to 6 inches of snow that was still on the ground Monday night in parts of the Mon-Yough area, according to NWS observers, which rapidly melted Tuesday as temperatures climbed into the upper 40s.

In Westmoreland County, officials in Sewickley Twp., south of Irwin, on Wednesday afternoon reported flooded roads, while district officials with the state Department of Transportation also reported flooded roads in Fayette and Greene counties.

Closer to McKeesport, there were isolated reports of standing or "ponding" water in low-lying areas.

The weather service has issued flood warnings for the Monongahela River. Forecasters are expecting the Monongahela River at Elizabeth to be almost a foot above its flood stage by 7 a.m. tomorrow.

At 10 a.m. this morning, the Mon at Elizabeth was at 14.84 feet and water levels had risen nearly 3 feet in a 24 hour period.

The Monongahela is expected to crest at 31.7 feet at Charleroi tonight. Flood stage is 28 feet.

At Braddock, the water levels were at 12.25 feet. The Monongahela is expected to crest at 22.7 feet tomorrow morning, or nearly a foot above flood stage.

At Sutersville, observers reported the Youghiogheny River was at nearly 17 feet at 4 p.m. today. Flood stage is 20 feet, but officials say that any level of 14.9 feet or above is considered a time to take action.

The Yough is expected to crest at Sutersville at 20.6 feet tomorrow, forecasters say.
