With the rally cry “take it to the polls,” a retired Pennsylvania state supreme court justice and her husband will help lead a voter-registration drive on Saturday in McKeesport.

“A Rally in the Valley” is a non-partisan informational event, said retired Justice Cynthia Baldwin, who is hosting the event along with her husband, Art.

The event will be held from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 7) at Noah’s Ark Community Center, 200 Sixth Ave.

“Our intent is to reach as many churches, organizations and individuals in every community in the Mon Valley —Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties — to provide voter education, voter registration and to excite the public about voting,” Baldwin said.

The committees of both major political parties have been notified and their candidates have been encouraged to attend, she said.

“This is a non-partisan event,” Baldwin said. “We anticipate that candidates and their representatives and the media will be present as well as the Mon Valley public. Elected officials, candidates or their official representatives will be offered the opportunity to speak briefly.”
