DUI Arrest: Matthew A. Brown, 26, of McKeesport was charged by McKeesport police with driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, going the wrong way on a one-way street, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license after a crash at 3 a.m. Aug. 21.

Police said a car was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Lysle Boulevard when a vehicle driven by Brown struck it from behind. Brown then drove away, police said. Officers responded to the scene and followed scrape marks on the road to the 700 block of Pirl Street, where they found Brown behind the wheel of the damaged vehicle, which had collided with a parked car, police said.

Brown faces a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 3 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi. Court records indicate that he is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bond in connection with an unrelated case.

Shots Fired: A 15-year-old from McKeesport and a 14-year-old from the Elliott section of Pittsburgh are charged by McKeesport police with criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person after they were accused of shooting pellet guns at a building and a parked car in the city's East End. The incident happened at 4:29 p.m. Aug. 22.

Theft: Edward Byers III, 36, of White Oak was charged by McKeesport police with theft by unlawful taking after an incident at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Police said Byers is accused of removing $800 in cash from a purse in a vehicle.

Firearms Charge: Rashawn L. Walker, 19, of McKeesport was charged by McKeesport police with receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, a violation of the uniform firearms act, possessing instruments of crime, carrying a prohibited offensive weapon and tampering with evidence.

Police said that Walker was a passenger in a car that was stopped by officers near the intersection of O'Neil Boulevard and Washington Street at 8:51 p.m. Aug. 26. Police said the gun Walker is accused of carrying had been reported stolen from Whitaker.

Walker is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bond pending a hearing at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi.

Robbery: A 13-year-old McKeesport teen-ager was charged by McKeesport police with theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking after police said that he and another teen-ager stole a pizza from a delivery driver. The incident happened at 6:08 p.m. Aug. 27 near the intersection of Beaver and Butler streets.

Firearms Charge: William C. Blue, 25, of McKeesport was charged by McKeesport police with carrying a loaded weapon, a violation of the uniform firearms act, drug possession, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of instruments of crime, driving with a suspended license and motor-vehicle offenses following a traffic stop at 7:51 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 900 block of Union Avenue.

Shots Fired: Asaan R. Zyhier, 20, of McKeesport was charged by McKeesport police with a violation of the uniform firearms act, simple assault and receiving stolen property after officers responded to a report of "shots fired" near the intersection of Jenny Lind and Butler streets at 3 p.m. Aug. 30. Police said Zyhier is accused of firing shots at a residence.
