Duquesne City Council has added another 23 vacant properties to the demolition list and could begin work as early as next month.
At a special hearing on Feb. 4, council voted unanimously to raze the buildings, which had previously been identified as dangerous structures.
Solicitor Myron Sainovich said letters have been previously sent out to the owners of record for the properties. He noted that the public hearing was advertised through City Manager Douglas Sample’s office, and not one of the property owners had appealed the verdict.
There were no residents in city hall or on the accompanying Zoom meeting for the special hearing.
Sainovich said that the property owners have 30 days to appeal to Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.
The identified properties are:
• 614, 622 and 913 Grant Ave.
• 13, 17, 107, 111 and 120 Meadow St.
• 13 Clark St.
• 1013 Edith St.
• 12, 13, 20, 23, 27 and 29 Erwin St.
• 12, 15, 19, 21 and 104 Seward St.
• 143 Union St.
• 119 Ross St.
City officials said that if all goes well, they could start removing they eyesores as early as March 15. In the regular meeting, council reported that they have obtained a tractor that could do the needed work.
