Police: City Man’s Death Was Homicide

A fatal shooting on Abraham Street in the city has been ruled a homicide.

Kurtis Shaw, 37, died Saturday night at UPMC McKeesport Hospital of gunshot wounds to the head and neck, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

In a press release, Allegheny County police said emergency personnel were notified of a shooting inside a house in the 1700 block of Abraham Street just before 10 p.m. and found Shaw suffering from his wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, county officials said.

The county homicide unit is investigating. No other information has been released. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
