Duquesne City Council will have its regular workshop meeting on June 26 and its regular meeting on July 1; however, they will enjoy a summer recess in July and early August.
The July 22 workshop meeting and the August 5 meetings are cancelled. The city’s Home Rule Government Study Commission meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 16 at City Hall.
In other business, the Duquesne Boys and Girls Club is hosting a three-on-three basketball tournament from 12 noon to 3 p.m. June 19 at Polish Hill Park.
“Cycling for Kids” will be held every Saturday at 10 a.m. on Lower Grant Avenue by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank from June 21 to August 31. A total of 15 bicycles will be available for kids to use and peddle the trail. Organizers call it an opportunity to “learn about the benefits of cycling.”
And the Duquesne Dukes Youth Athletic Association is holding its Rebirth Event and parade on June 27. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the school. The procession will head towards Polish Hill Park for what is advertised as “an afternoon of fun.” As part of the activities, there will be a dedication of a bench for long-time school board director DeWayne Tucker at the War Memorial in Grant Park at City Hall.
Plans continue for Duquesne’s Community Day Parade at 10 a.m. Aug. 2. It will begin a Fourth and Grant streets and proceed to Polish Hill Park.
