A Glassport man is in the Allegheny County Jail after police said he crashed into four parked cars in Port Vue while fleeing from McKeesport officers on Friday night.
Kane M. Snow, 26, faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 25 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi in connection with the Aug. 15 incident.
At the time of the arrest, court records indicate, Snow was free on his own recognizance while awaiting trial in connection with a December 2024 incident in which he also was accused of fleeing from police.
McKeesport police said an officer on routine patrol in the city’s 10th Ward was stopped at a red light when a black-colored Nissan sedan turned from West Fifth Avenue onto Rebecca Street, nearly colliding with the police car.
In a criminal complaint, police said that upon seeing the police car, the driver of the Nissan pulled a ski mask over his face. As the vehicle passed, according to the affidavit, the officer noticed that the car’s license plate was obscured.
According to the complaint, the officer contacted another patrol officer in the area, who reported he had just seen the same Nissan sedan further up Rebecca Street, and that it had forced two other vehicles off the road at a high rate of speed.
Two McKeesport officers pursued the Nissan through Port Vue until police decided to terminate the chase for safety reasons in the area of Edmundson Avenue, the complaint states.
Officers then began searching the area and found the black sedan had collided with several parked vehicles in the 900 block of Elmwood Avenue. The driver was not with the car.
However, a third officer observed a man suspected to be the driver running through yards on Romine Avenue, the complaint states.
A fourth McKeesport police officer with a K9 officer then responded and tracked the suspect from the crash scene to the yard of a home in the 900 block of Romine Avenue, according to the complaint.
The suspect came forward and was identified by officers as the driver of the Nissan, police stated.
Snow was arrested and charged by McKeesport police with driving with a suspended license, fleeing or eluding police, leaving the scene of an accident and evading arrest or detention.
He was arraigned in Allegheny County Night Court and ordered held in lieu of $1,000 bond.
At the time of his arrest, Snow was free on his own recognizance while awaiting trial in a separate case. Court records indicate that on Dec. 28, 2024, Snow was arrested by Port Vue police and charged with possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding police and a variety of motor vehicle charges.
That case is awaiting formal arraignment and no trial date has been set, according to court officials.
Court records indicate that Snow also faces possession charges from Glassport police in connection with an Aug. 5 incident. A preliminary hearing in that case has been scheduled for Sept. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Armand Martin.
