Two polling places in Duquesne will move to new locations for Tuesday’s election, Allegheny County officials announced.
Voters in precincts 3-1 and 3-3 who usually vote at St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Church Social Hall will vote instead at the Orchard Park Apartment Offices, 1001 Ridge St.
A county spokeswoman said approximately two dozen total polling locations have moved since the last election, so every voter is encouraged to check their polling place and make a plan to cast their ballots. Voters can check their polling place here.
“Most voters registered at a polling place that moved should have received a letter in the mail in the last week informing them of the new address, but voters are still encouraged to check their polling place online as last-minute changes do occasionally happen, as is the case with Duquesne 3-1 and 3-3,” said Dave Voye, elections division manager. “We will also have signage at former polling locations instructing people on where the new poll is if it has moved since the last election.”
Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voters who received mail-in ballots have until 8 p.m. tomorrow to return them to the elections division. Ballots must be completed and the outer envelope must be signed and dated, or they may not be counted.
Voters may only return their own mail-in ballots, not ballots for other people, except in rare cases where a voter is disabled or unable to return a ballot. In those cases, a voter must complete a designated agent form.
The County Office Building on Ross Street in downtown Pittsburgh will be open and accepting mail-in ballots until 8 p.m. Ballots received after 8 p.m. Tuesday will not be counted, regardless of their postmark.
