McKeesport Little Theater's production of "12 Angry Men" wraps up its three-week run this weekend with performances at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Written in 1954 by Reginald Rose, the play was originally presented on the CBS television anthology series, "Westinghouse Studio One," and won three Emmy Awards. It was then adapted for the movies in 1957 by director Sidney Lumet, with a powerhouse cast including Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Ed Begley Sr., Jack Warden and Jack Klugman.

Set in the early 1950s, the play takes place entirely inside the jury room at a courthouse. A 19-year-old man has just been put on trial for the murder of his father. The case seems to be open and shut until one juror begins pestering the 11 other jurors with questions.

Writing at her website, Mon Valley Happenings, Carol Frazier says the MLT has "raised the bar quite high" with the current production.

"Director Lora Oxenreiter cast 12 strong performers who bring to life what goes on behind the closed doors of the deliberation room," Frazier says. "They draw the audience into the arguments and explanations that result in more questions than answers."

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. The theater is located at 1614 Coursin St. For more information, call (412) 673-1100 or visit www.mckeesportlittletheater.com.

MLT's next production is a special Christmas-themed show on Dec. 3 and 4 entitled, "Yes, Virginia: The Musical," and in March, the theater will present the David Ives comedy "Polish Joke."
