A West Mifflin man was arrested after police said he shot his wife in the chest during a domestic dispute.

The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

Richard Kadish, 55, is charged by Allegheny County police with attempted homicide and aggravated assault in connection with the incident at the family's home on Rossmoor Drive.

Although the victim's name was not released by police, court records identify her as Karen Kadish.

West Mifflin police and Baldwin EMS paramedics were dispatched to the Kadish residence just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in response to a 9-1-1 call about a shooting.

There, county police said in a statement, they found Karen Kadish suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. She was taken to a local hospital.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit responded and took Richard Kadish into custody, police said. Court records indicate he was arraigned Wednesday night in Pittsburgh Municipal Court and remanded to Allegheny County Jail. Bond information was not immediately available from court officials.

Tax records indicate the Kadishes have lived on Rossmoor Drive for about 30 years.

A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for May 11 before Magisterial District Judge Richard Olasz Jr. in West Mifflin.
