Property Tax Discount Date Extended Due to Weekend

The date by which Allegheny County property owners can pay their 2018 taxes at a discount is being extended.
Allegheny County Treasurer John K. Weinstein said Wednesday that the deadline for the 2 percent discount --- which was originally this Saturday --- is being extended to Monday, due to the weekend.
In addition, the treasurer's office will stay open until 7:30 p.m. Monday for the convenience of taxpayers.
"This will allow more people time to take advant age of the 2 percent discount and save money,” Weinstein said.
The county treasurer’s office is located in Room 108 of the Allegheny County Courthouse in Pittsburgh. A spokeswoman for Weinstein said taxpayers also may pay county property taxes online at the treasurer's website or pay by mail.
Property taxes may be paid at face value from April 2 to 30. Property taxes paid on or after May 1 are considered delinquent, the spokeswoman said.
