City Man Faces Prison in Federal Fraud Case

A McKeesport man has been sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison in connection with a scheme to defraud an unidentified local business.

Daniel K. Miller, 54, also faces three years' probation and must pay more than $71,000 in restitution, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said this week in a prepared statement.

Miller was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon.

Federal prosecutors said Miller stole the identity of the company in 2010 and used its name and credit history to set up a fake website to buy and sell merchandise.

North Hills Man Charged With Ramming Police Car

A North Hills man is being held in Allegheny County Jail after McKeesport police said he deliberately rammed a police car with the stolen vehicle he was driving.

Antwuan Berry, 21, faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi. He is currently being held in lieu of $25,000 bond, court officials said.

The charges against Berry stem from an incident early on the morning of Feb. 3. City police said Sgt. Steve Kondrosky was on routine patrol along Lysle Boulevard when he spotted a car that had been reported stolen.

Homeowner Scares Off Intruder; No Threat to School

A home invasion on Thursday resulted in a lockdown at Francis McClure Elementary School in White Oak, but there was no threat to students, police said.

White Oak police Chief Mark Sargent said the incident began at 10:17 a.m. when a resident of a home in the 100 block of Carmella Drive heard his dog barking downstairs and went to investigate. The homeowner had a personal firearm for protection, Sargent said.

On the first floor, the homeowner found an intruder with a pistol stuck in his waistband, standing near the home's back door, Sargent said.

County Police Investigate West Mifflin Shooting

An unidentified 20-year-old man is in critical but stable condition at a hospital after a shooting Thursday night in West Mifflin.

Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman said in a prepared release that the victim was shot in the 4700 block of Coal Road, near the Munhall border. The incident happened at about 8 p.m.

The county police homicide unit is investigating. No further information was released by police.

 

Former City Man Sentenced on Drug, Gun Charges

A former McKeesport man accused of selling the heroin that killed a woman in 2016 has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

Henry T. "Bundles" Little-Proctor, 27, pleaded guilty to five counts of violating federal narcotics and firearms laws and was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Cathy Bisson in Pittsburgh.

U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said Little-Proctor distributed both heroin and fentanyl, a highly potent painkiller up to 75 more times than morphine, between 2015 and July 2016.

Crime Stoppers Offers Reward in Duquesne Shooting

A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of suspects in connection with the shooting of two people on Jan. 21 in Duquesne.

Police said the victims --- two men and a woman --- had left a private social club in the early hours of the morning and were parked in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue.

At approximately 4 a.m., a silver car pulled alongside their vehicle and someone began shooting into their car, police said.

Two Arrested in Robbery at Duquesne Store

Two juveniles are charged with robbery and related offenses after a hold-up at a discount store in Duquesne.

The young men, ages 15 and 17, will be charged as adults, Duquesne police Chief Thomas Dunlevy said.

The robbery happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday at the Dollar General store on Hoffman Boulevard.

One of the suspects put a silver-colored pistol against the clerk's head and demanded money, Dunlevy said. The employees were not injured.

After taking money, the suspects fled, police said, and store employees called 9-1-1.

City Man's Death Ruled Homicide

Allegheny County police are investigating a city man's death as a homicide.

The body of Craig Rhodes-Mitchell, 24, was discovered at around 10 p.m. Jan. 27 inside a home in the 1300 block of Centennial Street, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

Initial reports were that Rhodes-Mitchell was found "unresponsive inside the home."

But on Friday, a county spokeswoman said Rhodes-Mitchell was suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner's office has ruled the death a homicide. No other details were released.

Teen-Ager Charged By Pittsburgh Police in Death of White Oak Man

A teen-ager from Pittsburgh has been arrested in connection with the murder Sunday of a White Oak man.

Melik Johnson, 17, of Northview Heights and East Liberty, was charged Monday by Pittsburgh police with homicide, robbery, criminal conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a minor in connection with the death of Devlen Neiko Prosdocimo, 24, said Alicia George, police spokeswoman.

Prosdocimo was found at 7:20 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Wilner Drive, near East Hills Park, not far from the Penn Hills and Wilkinsburg border.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said Prosdocimo was pronounced dead at the scene and appeared to have been both shot and struck by a vehicle. The death has been ruled a homicide.
