Free yoga classes for women will be provided on Thursday afternoons at a Downtown church, beginning this week, and child care will be available.
"Empower" is a 10-week yoga and wellness program being taught by Ali Popivchak (above), founder of Pittsburgh Yoga Therapy. Classes are being held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the social hall of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, corner Walnut Street and Eighth Avenue, next to the McKeesport post office.
The church will be open at 11:30 a.m. on the day of the classes.
Popivchak said volunteers are needed to help with child care and donations to offset the cost of the program are being accepted. Child care volunteers must have, or obtain, Pennsylvania Child Welfare Clearances.
To sign up for the program or volunteer, email ali@pghyogatherapy.com or sign-up using the SignUpGenius website.
