White Oak Kicks Off Holidays With Concert, Tree-Lighting

White Oak will kick off the holiday season with concerts and a tree-lighting ceremony this Saturday.
The event, to be held at Rainbow Volunteer Fire Co.'s hall on Route 48, will includes visits with Santa Claus and a pancake brunch, a spokeswoman said.
The "Season of Lights" celebration includes a pancake and sausage brunch at the fire hall, 2916 Jacks Run Road, from 2 to 4:45 p.m. Ages 16 and under may attend for free, while the cost is $2 for ages 17 and over.
Kids may have their photos taken with Santa, and "goody bags" will be available for children while supplies last.
At 3 p.m., the Mon Yough Chorale will perform holiday favorites, followed by the McKeesport Area High School String Orchestra at 5 p.m.
The borough's holiday tree will be lit at 6 p.m. The winner of the borough's coloring contest will flip the switch to turn on the lights.
Refreshments and door prizes also will be available during the event.
