Olympic gold medalist Swin Cash will serve as grand marshal Saturday for McKeesport's 54th annual Salute to Santa Parade.

The event gets underway at 11 a.m. Saturday with a lineup of nearly 60 parade units, including Shriners' clowns, local police and firefighters, marching band members from McKeesport Area, Serra Catholic and West Mifflin Area high schools, cheerleaders from the Duquesne-West Mifflin Boys & Girls Club, and several local drill teams.

Weather permitting, the event along Fifth Avenue, Downtown, will be streamed by Tube City Community Media Inc. live on the Tube City Online Facebook page.

Cash, a retired professional basketball player who was named a WNBA All-Star four times, is a McKeesport Area High School and University of Connecticut graduate who won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics with the U.S. women's basketball team. She currently serves as director of franchise development for the WNBA's New York Liberty.

Following the parade, children are invited to the Palisades Ballroom, Fifth and Water streets, for a free lunch and to get their photos taken with Santa.

Marching units will assemble at 10 a.m. at the McKees Point Marina along Water Street and step out along Fifth Avenue beginning at 11 a.m., heading toward McKeesport City Hall at Sinclair Street. Traffic on Fifth, Market, Walnut and Sinclair streets will be detoured during the parade.

Near the front of the parade will be the 2017 Parade Princess MacKenzie MacDonald, representing the White Oak Athletic Association Cheer Squad, and 2017 Queen Grace Shelly, representing the McKeesport Area High School band, along with 2018's princess and queen candidates, Teegan Lewis of Mary of Nazareth Catholic School and Eycyius Csorba of the McKeesport Area High School band.
