Sven Hosford of Dispense Magazine writes:

I saw your recent story about the event in McKeesport ("Companies Gather to Educate Public About Medical Marijuana's Uses, Benefits," April 30).

Thank you for your coverage of Erik and his pressing. A great guy doing good work. Thank you for covering him.

Our magazine is focused on supporting the medical cannabis industry, and there are a couple of inaccuracies that jump out:

• Greenleaf Compassion is a certifying physician, not a dispensary. They don't sell medicine.

• There are 25 grower permits that have been awarded. 12 in the first round, of which 10 have products on the shelf. 13 more will launch this year and next.

Thanks for writing!

Greenleaf Compassion is correctly labeled as a clinic --- but they also definitely sell medical marijuana products, according to Charlotte Hopkins, who covered the story.

And according to Greenleaf's Facebook page, "The clinic also offers a full range of CBD products available, to all eligible for medical marijuana. Want to purchase products? Just stop in and receive an evaluation to see if you qualify. And then should you be eligible, finish your one-stop trip by purchasing the products we carry."

Sven is correct that another 13 licenses were issued in 2018. The newest in our area is Maitri Genetics in Pittsburgh's East Liberty's neighborhood.

That brings the total number of growing licenses to 25. Up to 50 licenses can be issued under the state's medical marijuana legislation.

That error was mine and crept in during the editing process, and I apologize.

Tube City Almanac corrects all known errors of fact as quickly as possible. If you spot a mistake, email tubecitytiger@gmail.com, or call (412) 614-9659.
