LifeSpan, a Homestead-based agency that serves seniors throughout the Mon Valley and South Hills, is encouraging local residents to signup for Highmark's Walk for a Healthy Community.

The walk will be held May 11 at Stage AE on Pittsburgh's North Side.

All funds raised by LifeSpan will go directly to LifeSpan, a spokeswoman said. Donations may be made through the Highmark walk website at www.walkforahealthycommunity.org.

LifeSpan's goal is to raise $10,000. For more information,  contact Mike Dunn at (412) 464-1300, extension 145, or email mdunn@lifespanpa.org.

LifeSpan also has scheduled its annual Senior Picnic in the Park for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 23. The event will be held in cooperation with the Area Agency on Aging and McKeesport Mayor Mike Cherepko at the Jakomas Blue-Top Pavilion in Renziehausen Park.

The event will feature entertainment from Darryl and Kim, along with bingo, lunch, raffles and prizes.

Tickets cost $10 and advance purchase is required. For more information, visit LifeSpan's website or call (412) 464-1300.
