A Philadelphia man died after being shot multiple times Wednesday night at a home in Duquesne.
Ivan Walls, 45, was pronounced dead at a Pittsburgh hospital nearly three hours after the incident, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said.
In a prepared statement, Duquesne police said the incident happened inside a house in the 1100 block of Karl Avenue just before 7 p.m.
The location "is known to police and has been the scene of numerous crimes," Duquesne police said, adding that a preliminary investigation indicated the shooting "was not a random act of violence and all parties involved knew one another."
County homicide Lt. Kenneth Ruckel said the victim, later identified as Walls, arrived at the home with another man. Shortly after arrival, shots were fired and Walls fled from the rear of the home, Ruckel said.
The other man has not yet been identified by police, he said.
The shooter and the motive are not known, Ruckel said, and county homicide detectives are continuing to investigate.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Allegheny County police tipline at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477). Callers may remain anonymous. County police also may be reached via Twitter and Facebook.
