NBC’s “Today” show will feature students from McKeesport Area High School during a Friday morning broadcast.
Details of the segments are being kept under wraps, but spokespersons for both NBCUniversal’s parent company as well as McKeesport Area School District confirmed rumors circulating on Facebook that crews have conducted several interviews.
The segments are tentatively scheduled to air during the 8 a.m. hour.
In addition, a live segment will be broadcast from Weigle-Schaeffer Memorial Stadium. Members of the Tiger Band, football team and cheerleaders are expected to be included in the remote.
A spokesman for “Today” in New York did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
“Today” is seen in the Pittsburgh area on WPXI-TV (11).
“Today” averages almost 4 million viewers per day, according to the TV ratings service Nielsen Corp., and is generally either the number one or number two highest-rated morning show in the U.S.
